Executive Protection Agent – Uniform & Appearance Policy
Executive Protection (EP) Agents must maintain a clean, professional, and discreet appearance at all times. Whether assigned to private residences, corporate offices, public events, or during client travel, agents must adhere to a dress code that prioritizes professionalism, discretion, situational appropriateness, and operational readiness.
This policy outlines approved and unapproved attire and gear for indoor and outdoor assignments across various protection settings.
GENERAL UNIFORM PRINCIPLES
- Dress to match or blend into the environment. EP Agents must be inconspicuous but credible—your appearance should not draw unnecessary attention.
- All clothing must be clean, pressed, and properly fitted.
- Personal grooming must reflect professional standards. Hair, facial hair, and nails must be neat and well-kept.
- Agents must be prepared with appropriate layers, footwear, and accessories for varied weather and environments.
✅ APPROVED UNIFORM EXAMPLES

❌ UNAPPROVED/PROHIBITED UNIFORM ITEMS
The following items are not permitted under any circumstances while on duty or in view of the client or public:
- T-shirts with graphics, logos, or slogans
- Ripped or sagging jeans, joggers, shorts, or sweatpants
- Sneakers (non-tactical), open-toe shoes, crocs, sandals, or slides
- Ball caps, durags, wave caps, bonnets, or other non-professional headwear
- Excessive jewelry or accessories (e.g., large chains, bright watches)
- Loud colors or patterned clothing that makes the agent easily identifiable
- Visible undergarments or layered clothing worn sloppily
- Hoodies with large logos or over-the-head hoods during client engagements
HEADWEAR & OUTERWEAR
- Permitted: RSS-issued hats, plain black or navy beanies for cold weather, black soft-shell jackets or suit-style overcoats with no logos.
- Not Permitted: Bright-colored or branded headwear, printed hoodies, bulky or military-style outerwear unless assignment-specific and pre-approved.
WEATHER-SPECIFIC ADAPTATIONS
For outdoor assignments in cold, rainy, or high-heat conditions, agents may wear:
- Black tactical gloves (must be clean, fitted, and free of graphics)
- Plain black weatherproof outerwear with no branding or graphics
- Black performance base layers (if visible, must be fitted and free of logos)
PERSONAL GROOMING & HYGIENE
- Agents must arrive clean, well-groomed, and in uniform compliance.
- Strong fragrances (cologne or perfume) should be avoided.
- Tattoos should be covered when possible, unless already visible in business settings.
FINAL NOTES
- Supervisors may make assignment-specific adjustments to uniform requirements based on the client’s needs, venue dress code, or threat assessment.
- Failure to comply with this policy may result in removal from the assignment and disqualification from future EP details.

SHIRTS
✅ Approved:
Approved Collared Shirt (look/cut)
As mentioned earlier, when the event/environment calls for a collared or “dress” shirt, below are photos of what is expected. We have provided traditional neutral colored shirts as examples. Please be discreet with your selections. Your clothing should not stand out.


















Approved Undershirt
Plain black (or when appropriate, white), short-sleeve undershirt with no visible logos. We recommend always bringing a back-up shirt.You need to be able to move freely and comfortably, so your shirt should be practical for the specific tasks and environment. Approved Long-Sleeve Collarless Shirts and Undershirts
In colder weather (or settings where required), a black long-sleeve collarless shirt can be worn as your standard wear shirt or as an undershirt. Below are examples of approved long-sleeve collarless shirts.

No printed t-shirts, colored or iridescent undershirts, fishnet, long-sleeves with graphics, or undershirts with visible logos, branding, or embellishments.

No leggings, jeggings, pants with lace or fishnet, excessively tight, excessively baggy, or sagging styles.You need to be able to move freely and comfortably, so your pants should be practical for the specific tasks and environment.

SHOES / BOOTS/ DRESS SHOES
✅ Approved:
Approved Footwear
Preferably, all-black tactical boots or closed-toe work shoes with full heel coverage. Must be clean and slip-resistant.Your footwear should not have charms, chains, spikes, studs, or other embellishments or attachments.
You should be wearing sturdy, comfortable footwear, with the understanding that you will be walking and standing on different surfaces, for extended periods of time. Below are images of approved shoes and boots for men and women.

Unapproved Footwear
No “traditional” sneakers as they have high-risk of not being slip-resistant, and are often designed to bring attention to the wearer.No sandals, flip-flops, crocs, slides, slippers, heel-out shoes, colorful soles, high-heels, platform shoes, or open-toe styles.
Use your professional judgment about which footwear selection will serve your client best.
BELTS
✅ Approved:
Approved Belt
Plain black belt—must be worn with all pants. No logos, colored stitching, charms, chains, bedazzled, spikes, studs, gems, or oversized buckles.Examples of approved belts are provided below.










❌ Not Approved:
Unapproved Belts
No colored, studded, graphic, glittered, bedazzled, sequined, iridescent, or logo-emblazoned belts. Your belts should not have affixed or embedded spikes, charms, gems, or chains.
✅ Weather-Appropriate Gloves
- ✅ Plain black wool, leather, or water-resistant gloves
- Gloves may be worn during outdoor assignments for protection against cold or rain. While we understand that many glove manufacturers include small logos—particularly near the knuckle or wrist area—gloves must not have any distracting, inappropriate, or vulgar logos, wording, phrases, graphics, or embellishments of any kind.
- No spikes, charms, chains, or embedded adornments.
- Gloves must be clean, fitted, and professional in appearance at all times.
- When in doubt, ask your Lead Supervisor.
✅ Approved Headwear:
- ✅ Weather-Appropriate Headwear (Outdoors Only)
- To protect against heat, cold, or rain while outdoors, employees are permitted to wear the following:
- ✅ Plain black wool caps or plain black baseball caps
Caps must have no logos, wording, phrases, graphics, or embellishments of any kind. Headwear must be clean, fitted, and professional in appearance. When in doubt, ask your Lead Supervisor. - This exception is only allowed while outdoors and must not interfere with your uniform or visibility (e.g., no large brims, flaps, or oversized hats). When in doubt, ask your Lead Supervisor.
- ✅ Plain black wool caps or plain black baseball caps
- To protect against heat, cold, or rain while outdoors, employees are permitted to wear the following:
- ✅ Religious or culturally significant head coverings, as protected under California law and federal anti-discrimination laws
- If you wear religious or cultural headwear and would like to notify the staffing team in advance for documentation purposes, you may do so, but no one is required to explain or justify the protected expression of culture or faith.
- ✅ Medical Accommodations for Headwear
If an employee needs to wear headwear for medical reasons—such as alopecia, chemotherapy, or other medically documented conditions—they should notify HR or their Lead Supervisor in advance so appropriate accommodations can be made discreetly and respectfully.
❌ Unapproved Headwear:
- ❌ Durags, wave caps, wrap caps, pineapple caps or wraps, scarves, bonnets, or similar headwear are not to be worn while working or on a client’s premises/ site.

Personal Presentation
EPAs must report to duty clean, well-groomed, and in full uniform. Hair, facial hair, and nails should be neat. Strong hygiene and professionalism are part of your responsibility as a visible security presence. You will be regularly interacting with our clients, the public, and potential clients.While on the work site, whether clocked in or clocked out, always remember, that the client is always watching you!
